Synopsis
Publisher's Summary One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy. In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns. I have meant to read Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice for years. I am now glad I waited for this audio version! The terrific reading by Ms. Pike added so much to my enjoyment of the story.

This story is always a treat to read or hear but this telling of the story is so joyful and witty. Rosalind Pike is a phenomenal story teller and to hear her reenact her 2005 role of Jane Bennet, in her soft, lilting voice is a fantastic reminder of that beautiful film. Wonderful pacing of the story.

I have read this book on my own before but this time my pleasure was multiplied by the amazing narration of Rosamund Pike. What an excellent performance of this classic by Jane Austen.

Loved the book, of course it is a classic. This is my first time hearing the story and Rosamund Pike's narration made it all the better. 5 stars from me!

I'm sure I will listen again and again. I never tire of Jane Austen. The narrator did a wonderful job.I do love her accent.

Brilliant lush language and turns of phrase. Astute insights into human behavior customs and manners of the times. Wonderful narrator. Almost as wonderful a novel as the Forsythe Saga😊.

OK don`t judge me but this is the first time I`ve read the original. I`ve read many variations that I loved, and I love this one just as much if not more.Elizabeth is amazing, I can see myself being friends with her, she has a wicked tongue that I absolutely love.Excellent narrative by Rosemund Pike, just perfect.

A classic, but let's just step back from that and "pretend" no one has ever heard of "Pride and Prejudice" and rate it from an objective point of view. The narration is absolutely fantastic. The interpretation of Austen's words are spot on and every character's voice is unique and absolutely believable. The story itself is fantastic and barring the "flowery" vocabulary and sentence structure it seems pertinent even today and it was published in 1813! I love the characters and the interactions between them--some you love, some you love to hate. Really just a great book. Enjoy.

Rosalind Pike does a wonderful job with my favorite book! Her voices and tone are very good and I was lost in the story.

So well written and masterfully narrated! My favorite Jane Austen book! Highly recommended! Narrator captures each character perfectly!!!
