Synopsis
Publisher's Summary Simon Basset, the irresistible Duke of Hastings, has hatched a plan to keep himself free from the town's marriage-minded society mothers. He pretends to be engaged to the lovely Daphne Bridgerton. After all, it isn't as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry - though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon's heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, she soon forgets that their courtship is a complete sham. And now she has to do the impossible and keep herself from losing her heart and soul completely to the handsome hell-raiser who has sworn off marriage forever! ©2015 Julie Cotler Pottinger (P)2016 Recorded Books

Was The Duke and I worth the listening time?I liked the story--though it is very predictable.Kind of like a Jane Austin knock off written for highschoolers... I had to quit listening after the first half because it gets very explicit and the story is woven into the dialogue in the sex scenes so I can't really skip them and not miss parts of the story. It was disapointing.up untill the explicit scenes i liked the story.

...with a little more sex.A PG13 vs. Heyer's G rated regency romances. It's well worth the time, with engaging, sympathetic characters.A caution....don't bother with the 2nd epilogue. We found it rather unsatsfying and unnecessary.Otherwise, a very nice read. We'll definitely get the next book.

I didn't enjoy it.Far-reaching story..drags on...I bought it based on reviews but it sucked! Good performance though. I think the hero was selfish, really couldn't get past his dad's treatment even though he was dead. Oh and the duel scene..made me want to stop listening then and there. I wasted a credit!

Any additional comments?J. Quinn makes you smile and laugh, fall in love with and hurt for the characters. R. Landon brings all the wonderful characters to life. This a is a complete story of love and hate, friendship and sensuality. What an enjoyable romance - I'm off to get the next Bridgerton book!

The narration was great. The story was rape-y. I'd recommend giving it a hard pass.

Overalll a very good book and I am super glad the couple got their happy ending.I really enjoyed the 2nd epilogue but would have to say it was a bit long.I feel like it could have been several minutes shorter.it was nice hearing how the characters lives were though.

The story is predictable; a character with hidden issues (that's Simon) and a know it all women. She knows best and triumphs over his "issues." Nonetheless, it is entertaining. The characters bickering and fun bantering makes for a light cheerful read. The narrator and, of course, Julia Quinn know how to make a charming diversion.

This book is mostly good and fun, but ends up with some really uncomfortable consent issues halfway through, unfortunately.
