Synopsis
Publisher's Summary The Golden Couple is the next electrifying audiobook from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the number one New York Times best-selling author duo behind You Are Not Alone, An Anonymous Girl, and The Wife Between Us. If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. Her successes are phenomenal—she helps people overcome everything from domineering parents to assault—and almost absorbs the emptiness she sometimes feels since her husband’s death. Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple—until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their eight-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist, who lost her license due to controversial methods. When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger. A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press "My favorite kind of thriller: a guessing game filled with characters you care about and twists you don't see coming. The Golden Couple takes a deep dive into a marriage, where what you see on the surface is not necessarily the truth, and the results are mesmerizing. Add to this a therapist who doesn't play by the rules and you have an utterly compelling, spellbinding read." (Lisa Jewell, author of Then She Was Gone and Invisible Girl) "Narrators Marin Ireland and Karissa Vacker dazzle as they deliver this twisted domestic thriller." Was excited because of the great reviews, but underwhelmed by the story. Hard to follow at times and very difficult to believe any of the dynamics between the main couple. Not on my recommend list.

Overall the story is ok. It’s a slowwwwww burn with a mediocre plot twist and somewhat sloppy story line. I did enjoy the performance but kept wishing the story would pick up pace more.

I would not categorize this book as a thriller or suspenseful. It’s rather predictable and boring. it’s an okay summer read but it’s more fiction than mystery in my opinion.

Awesome. Loved it. Pekkanen & Hendricks really do a great job with their collaborational works. I have read all of them, & every individual Pekkanen book as well.Talented writers and creators of high quality women's fiction.

Lots of twists and simmering suspense. Great characters and excellent acting with both narrators.

So much going on in this story that it totally held my interest and I was never bored, and for me that's a big challenge! The characters were well developed and very well narrated, and the biggest surprise of all is that it kept me thinking and guessing all the way to the end (that never happens)! If you enjoy a well written psychological thriller... I highly recommend this book

Nothing worse than a psychotic psychologist!Good book that kept me guessing almost all the way through.Could see this as an Enquirer headline. Loved the narration!

Some wandering parts that don’t seem to get resolved, but overall pretty solid. A great pair of narrators though!

I’ve loved Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s other books and this one did not disappoint!! I think it’s actually my favorite! Couldn’t stop listening! Definitely worth the credit!!

This book got my attention right off the bat. It was entertaining, the characters had just enough depth. It was twisty, engaging, and had just enough mystery to keep me reading. Enjoy. Oh, and their other books are good too!
