Synopsis
Publisher's Summary Number-One New Release in Romance The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Verity and It Ends With Us delivers another breathtaking novel with a magnetic suspense that will keep you glued to your device. "This book deserves a whole galaxy of stars, but alas, five is all I can give." (Shades of Rebecca) Life and a dismal last name are the only two things Beyah's parents ever gave her. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself. With only two short months separating her from the future she's built and the past she desperately wants to leave behind, an unexpected death leaves Beyah with no place to go during the interim. Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah's plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan. Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface. She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other. Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea. ©2020 Colleen Hoover (P)2020 Audible, Inc.

I’ve read several Colleen Hoover books so when I had several hours of drive time alone I thought I’d try an audiobook. I can’t decide if my average ratings are because of the narration or the story itself but I didn’t connect at all with the narrator. It felt all wrong so there were times where I just couldn’t get as I to the story as I do when I’ve read books by the same author.

Sometimes I can’t read a book because of the awful narration, but Angela Goethals is excellent (and happens to be the same narrator of Maybe Someday). The storyline was awesome too; I had no idea the story line would turn the way it did. I love Colleen Hoover’s books!!!

This is a good romance novel. I liked how the characters overcame their difficult pasts. There is a snag in the storyline, but still worth reading.

Another great read by the amazing Colleen Hoover.Once again she left me with so many feels.I do feel this book may be geared to more of a teen crowd but I still loved it nonetheless and felt the writing was fantastic and told a great story.I felt so much while reading this book.Beyah and Samson were created so well that I could vividly see them and feel everything they went through. My heart broke but it also exploded with joy.Beyah goes through so much in the pages of this book and does so much growing up while simultaneously getting to act like the teenager she is.

I sat on this review for a little while because I wasn’t sure what to say.I still don’t, but I think its because, honestly, I forgot what the story was about after reading several other books since.Again, I love Colleen Hoover and her stories, especially her early ones. This one didn’t pull at my heart bones like I though it would.I liked the story and enjoyed it, but it didn’t stand out for me like her other works did.If I had started to read Colleen at this point, I may not have read her other stuff, simply because the genre has jaded me.I am not detoured though as not every book is going to be stellar. This narrator I have heard many many times. I have no complaints. She is good for this genre.

Beautiful story of beautifully broken people brought back to life by love, understanding and time. I loved this book! Absolutely precious!

i definitely didnt expect the book to take the turns it did.. i listened to quickly because i couldn't dare stop.. great book!

I enjoyed this book but it definitely doesn’t top her others ones I’ve read! Overall a great story and so many lessons to be learned in this book!

I definitely recommend the book!Love the story line and ending was satisfying!!Excellent read!!!!!!

I’m 49 and this book totally annoyed me. It was drenched in adolescent angst and despair, which for me, who’s in the middle of raising 3 teenaged daughters, it was difficult to get through. I kept wanting to shout SERIOUSLY Colleen Hoover? She’s written much better than this! The performance was okay, but the narrator’s voice was completely depressing and stoic. The whole thing together just wasn’t for me

This story... I was listening on the way to work and tears were falling down my face. It’s heart wrenching in the BEST possible way.Colleen knows how to tell a story so rich and complex, yet you feel you could know these people. You care about these characters. One of my top 10 all time listens for sure.

I love that you never know what to expect from a Colleen Hoover storyline but the love connection is just as deep in all of her books. There are so many layers to this story and my heart felt like it was in a vice grip most of the time from pain, sadness, hope, love and pride. Assume your favorite reading position, avoid any distractions and sink into this book.

So many words to describe the way this book gave me feels.Beyah is one of my most favorite characters ever. A real life super hero who overcomes the evil in her world and came out victorious as a good human.Heartwarming, heart wrenching, beautifully tragic with a happily ever after...my favorite kind of story! I hope they make this a movie🤞🏼🎥

What I enjoy most about Colleen Hoover books is that she doesn't need to waste time on incorporating erotica into the material. Her characters are well-developed. The relationships she builds don't need to rely on explicit sex for the story to unfold beautifully. There is depth in her storylines, depth in her characters. She slowly unfolds a beautiful story. After reading a Colleen Hoover title, it's so hard to go back to reading a subpar books that contains more explicit sex than it does story. Kudos to Colleen for finding that perfect balance and masterfully weaving a wonderful tale that stays in the readers' mind for quite a spell.

I was excited for something new from CH because she’s one of my favorite authors but this is one of my least favorite narrators so it ruined it for me. Everything she says is breathy and dramatic....(in her breathy and overly dramatic voice).....”I said No Pepper Jack Cheese.... you cannot have another treat...(dramatic pause and sigh)....as he looks back at me with pure doggy despair in his eyes....”Nope. Sorry. Can’t.
