source: When We First Met

"When We First Met" is one of the latest made for Netflix films and it's one that is easy to skip. Why? Because the film is derivative....like "Big" and "Groundhog Day" combined...particularly "Groundhog Day". Had it been more original, I would have enjoyed it so much more. When the film begins, Noah (Adam Devine) and Avery (Alexandra Daddario) meet at a party and hit it off. They get along so well on their first night together than you might assume they'd spend the rest of their lives together...but it's not to be. Jump ahead a few years and now she's marrying some other guy and Noah's been relegated to friend status. Then, through the use of a magical photo booth, Noah's able to time travel and, perhaps, make Avery love him. As I said....it's much like those two movies. Adam Devine has been very hot in movies recently and you like him or you love him. I find his characters generally annoying....but it might be my age, as he and his shtick are clearly targeted towards twenty-somethings. This combined with a very familiar plot make this one I'd just as soon skip....but younger audiences might find a bit more to enjoy....particularly if you are looking for a date flick and aren't being too choosy.

Even though the originality of the story line isn't there. It mastered the groundhog day concept of a feel good movie. Maybe I feel it's exceptional because i just watched 3 movies with nail biting open ended movies like 3 billboards outside ebbing Missouri. I love movies that make you think and get good laughs

I don't know why there a bad reviews for this movie. If you watch the trailer you get exactly the movie you're expecting. Obviously this isn't going to be the greatest movie you've ever seen, but it was a decent flick for a Saturday night in. Like most movies that deal with going back in time, WWFM deals with the way fate plays out and how changing things can result in a completely different life - not always the one you were hoping for. Overall though it's not a bad movie. Not riotously funny, but enjoyable. I appreciate that it didn't rely on sex, drugs, or violence like the comedies coming out lately. Call me a prude but the last few comedies I've seen have been utterly tasteless. Anyway, this is a good movie to watch to kill some time or for a night in with friends, but don't expect anything outstanding.

Very below average film, but the worst aspect for me is Adam Devine needs to get a clue that we already have a Jack Black, so his inferior impression throughout the film destroyed the experience for me. Why would they make a film, with the lead imitating such a success as Jack Black?
