The romantic comedy (Brazil) has a very predictable story line - the rich bachelor that never gets romantically involved with woman for more than 3 months, and his dying mother wants him to get married before she dies in 6 months. He hires an actress to pose as his girlfriend/fiance but he develops real love feelings for her - while still in a relationship with another girl. The only thing is that there is one twist in the story which is kind of surprising, but not shocking, therefore still predictable because they had to have some kind of a twist to shake things up a little bit. The actual ending was predictable as well.

The English language dub-over actors try, but the Argentinian actors are so full of energy, it's darn near impossible. The female lead Thati Lopes is amazing. She's beautiful, incredibly alluring, and hilarious. Teach her some English and get her to Hollywood now! The guy who plays Luiz is just a generic Latino hunk, and struggles to keep up with Ms. Lopes. The Luiz character is supposed to be some sort of Romeo, but frankly, all the women he romances are three baggers. Woof woof. I don't get why every review has to be 600 characters here now. You end up just typing random words to fill it.

Certainly not the most creative romantic comedy, but it's quite heart warming and a good entertainment. It's particularly interesting if you happen to know the actors from other works. Do not expect to see something that's is not cliché, but love is all about it anyway. A good point also is to see some movies out of the main circuit of production, coming from a different country gaining some recognition, too. It balances the love story with the comedy in a nice way, too. There are some really good jokes that come out of nowhere that gets you unexpectedly. I do recommend if you are in a Netflix date, or just relaxing on a Sunday night.

The story is simple, you pretend to be in love so you fall in love for real. What I really have a problem with is the acting and the type of humor. The leads act like idiots, the male lead acts like a spoilt baby and the female lead like a child. She doesn't take her job seriously being late, forgetting key details that they agreed on 2 days earlier and acting the same with all her clients no matter what is the situation. I really think that this could have been an okay movie If it took itself a bit more seriously and not like it was made for children with the over-the-top acting, illogical and unrelatable storylines. For me (who actually loves romantic movies) it was unwatchable.

The movie is a very good Romcom, I don't understand how it has 5 stars here on imdb. I saw some people complaining that the English dubbing is bad and I can't say anything about it, since I watched it in Portuguese. But I recommend everyone to watch it. Besides that it seemed very inspired by Rent a Girlfriend and what made me think about it the most is the fact that the rental wife also wants to be an actress. The film talks about Luís, who hires an actress to pretend to be his fiancée to please his mother and not be taken out of the will. This film was starred by great actors, such as Caio Castro (Why do you cry Caio Castro? LMAO) and by other very famous actors.

It's "someone borrowed" on netflix, and "esposa de aluguel" (rented wife, in portuguese). It's dubbed in english on netflix, since it's coming from brazil. Luiz has his own set of rules to keep things from getting too serious with the ladies. But when mom finds out she has a serious illness, everything changes. Now luiz needs to find a wife pronto, or he's going to be cut out of the will! So he hires a girl he had dated way back to play his girlfriend. We know it's all going to blow up at some point. Because it always does! It works for a while, but luiz has so many exes, he can't seem to go anywhere without bumping into them. And why is he going out on dates, if he's supposed to be engaged? So predictable. And some of the voices doing the english dubbing are just waaaay over-acting.... was quite distracting. So i finally turned off the sound and used the english subtitles. Directed by chris d'amato. Has done a mix of television and film. I hope they have a bigger budget for the english dubbing on future projects. I usually enjoy seeing films from other countries, but this one doesn't have much new that we hadn't seen before. Part of the plot is similar to a 2004 episode of will and grace. It's okay.

Recent release in Netflix and just watched. A Brazilian romcom with relatively simple story but with interesting plot. In short a 30+ aged bachelor who uses a time schedule with female relationships and ending them in due time eg 3 months before love starts etc recruits a rather unsuccessful standup comedian but nearly pro level actress to play the role of fiance before his mother dies What will happen after? Quite simple story but .. first with lots of humor without being too comedic ND predictable END. This movie has a few specialties as with Lina his mother and his aggressive sister if not also mentioning his current girlfriend who destroys everything. The story also shows some interesting character development for Luis with his interest in cooking, promoting him via her job as standby comedian. I really enjoyed this movie giving it a 7/10 for the total result. The moral is apparent as subtext -the meaning below the story.
