Overall a very good movie. But as someone who lives in Polynesia, what on Earth were some tiny South East Asians doing masquerading as Polynesians? I live next to a Maori family and a Niuean family. They are a LOT bigger and perhaps better looking than their surrogates. They looked NOTHING at all like any Polynesian I've ever met. Perhaps that is why the movie went to black and white at the end? FYI one of my papers for my BA was in Pacific history and I have traveled to several Pacific islands as well as living here in New Zealand. Otherwise a very good Film. Of course I have to have one final quibble. In fact the crew brought the Hallicrafters main radio from the Kon Tiki ashore almost at once, however it took a couple of days to dry out before it was usable. I don't remember any mention of the "Gibson Girl" emergency transmitter shown in the movie in any of Heyerdal's books, but of course that could only transmit on 500KHz, not receive at all.

The movie isn't bad and it conveys the epic story, but for my taste at some points it is over dramatic for no apparent reasons. The original documentary shows the same story, while, obviously, stays true to the point, even though it is in black and white.

Det var lite såhär "oj vad gör dom" men ändå lite sådär "båt" 4 båtar av 10

This amazing film is about a group of people who traveled from Peru to Polynesia to prove Polynesians came from Peru.

Perfekt. Sehr lebendig umgesetzt. Sehr spannend. Wunderschöne Naturaufnahmen.

Taken from a true story, the film depicts the legendary explorer Thor Heyerdahl's epic crossing of the Pacific along 4,300 miles in 1947 to prove that it was possible for South Americans to settle in Polynesia in the pre-Columbian era. The film Kon-Tiki (2012) by Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg stands out for its great views and superior art direction, especially its wide-angle use is fantastic. The fact that the movie includes sharks and whales also adds a privilege to the movie for us to watch. The movie, which also received an Oscar nomination for the best foreign language in 2013, is definitely worth watching for the adventure.

i just finish watching this movie and have to say that it's a B(should be C or D class) class movie, i can't understand how lot of people review it as good movie!! poor acting and making on every way from A to Z of this movie and the actors are 100% armature on acting, simply there has nothing good with guarantee, do not waste your time guys. if you already wasted like me then you already know what i wanted to mean if you have minimum idea of a good movie. i never write any review but feel that need to do it to warn to not wasted your time. watch any other movie you will have better time then wasted on here ... have a good day.

Why do movie directors think there is only a notorious white shark in the world when it comes to sharks? The Kon-Tiki raft did not swim or capture White Dogs. White-washed, open-air dogs, which are smaller and not so dangerous, swam. Unnecessary dramatization of the film and loss of authenticity. Otherwise, the movie is solidly made.
