source: A Christmas Carol

I managed to watch about twenty minutes of the movie, I just couldn't keep watching. It is difficult to evaluate something like this at all because it is incomparably bad with anything else. I'm a huge fan of the "A Christmas Carol" theme, I've seen from high budget to low budget versions, filmed in various ways; in comic, dramatic, adventure, theatrical, animated direction. Every movie I've seen so far is incomparably better than this one, this is something terrible, this is an unpleasant and boring anomaly that I don't know why they even connect it with the theme of "A Christmas Carol", everything is twisted and full of woke content, which makes it quite not watchable. Because of movies like this, I'm sorry that there is no rating of zero. Bad, very bad!

This is kind of off best but still very good. One review said it was boring but it still gets the message across in a different way. I have seen about all the versions but this is different.

I've lost track of how many different versions of A Christmas Carol that my wife and I have watched at this point, but it's a lot. I was interested in watching a modern-day version of the story, but had no idea how lazy they could be. This movie was truly atrocious and included some of the worst acting I've ever seen in an adaptation of the Dickens tale. They tried to shoehorn in some of the original dialogue from the book, and it simply didn't work when put in the context of a modern setting. I know the beats so well from this story, and yet somehow this adaptation managed to make it all seem clunky and lack any kind of flow. It's clear that some guys gathered together and decided they could do an easy cash grab with a story which is in the public domain, so they slapped something together and even tried making it a little more edgy by changing Bob Cratchett into a woman, and making Tim her husband with cancer rather than a kid. However, they didn't think about how this impacts the overall story. I mean there's really no financial way that Scrooge can magically make cancer better, particularly in a nation that already has the NHS to cover most medical costs. It's just a dumb movie, and it's kind of embarrassing that they manage to take a story that even kids cartoons can get right and mess it up this badly.

I never bored so much in my life watching a film! I tried hard watch the half of it but I gave up! Why on Earth they make such horrible film which is a great story from Charles Dickens! I have seen modern versions and I liked them but this is beyond bordone! Very bad acting! Don't waste your time watch it! So horrible!

I watched this after a drink with a friend on xmas eve, and at first we thought it was just a bad, low budget movie. We then realised it is actually unintentionally extremely funny. Firstly, the guy doing Scrooge is stupidly over the top (sometimes nick cage level). Every other reaction he made, I burst out laughing. Bob Cratchit is a woman but they decided not to change the name for some reason, so he just calls her Bob.. Instead Of tiny Tim being ill its Bob Cratchit's husband Tim who has cancer.. OMG IS THIS FILM FUNNY. The dialogue is utter nonsense at times which was great xD. At one point some girls are collecting money for a heart charity and scrooge suggests instead of money the ill people should get arsenic or perhaps... electric shocks from cattle prods. (did I miss something? it made no sense LMAO). For some reason lots of people are dying young in this movie: Marley is about 30, Ginny from harry potter is in this (great acting btw) and she dies young, Bob cratchit's husband is dying, scrooge sees his future grave, which makes sense in the original cos he is old but in this he is about 30. In modern Britain why is everyone dying? There's also a weird scene with a random youngish guy that was laid off from his job and is now just limping around picking up pennies for survival, which would make sense if it was 1819 not 2019. Scrooge is a complete caricature, outrageously unbelievable, insanely heartless rich guy. special effects are from the 90s. Generally the acting and lines were not good. But that made it too funny!! Definitely watching this movie again. Why had I not heard of this movie?? good for drinking games. Entertainment level: 11/10!

I normally try to watch all versions of a Christmas Carol and at one time my family collected any version that was on VHS or DVD and if it wasn't available we could always record it, as my late mother was really into it. I even had made up a list of every version that came out so we could collect them and bought her the book a duplicate of Dickens original book. I've only come across one version I thought was worth (one revolving around trailer park trash) This just doesn't do it. It's trying to be a darker version with trying to use some of the original lines, it just doesn't work. If they changed the writing, settings, and the terrible acting maybe it would it work as this doesn't.

Well this was a Christmas Eve surprise. We just put this on for something in the background as it was a cheap rental for a new release, but ended up glued to it. Fast paced throughout. Well acted by most characters and very well directed. Low budget but there are some stunning shots of castles and landscapes. Well worth a watch this Christmas especially for the bakery scene. Up go the thumbs.
