The WBC held a press conference today at its headquarters in Bangkok. The 5th edition of the WBC Amazing Muay Thai World Festival begins this week. The event will take place at Nimibutr Arena from 25–29 June. It is set to be the biggest festival yet, with more than 950 athletes from over 60 countries taking part. Thailand's National Youth Team attended the press conference. The young athletes now have extra motivation to win. Joe Arthur, CEO of Mingo Technologies, has pledged cash prizes for medals won by Team Thailand. WBC Muay Thai also announced a partnership with investment company Cognition Alpha. They have plans to help support the growth of Muay Thai. Cognition Alpha will fund the new WBC Rising Stars events. These events will give young athletes more chances to compete and gain experience. WBC Secretary General Kevin Noone spoke about the importance of finding new sources of funding. Speaking about Andrew Murray, Managing Director of Cognition Alpha Capital, Noone said, "We're a bear with no honey, he's bringing the honey." Noone emphasized the importance of the individuals who make growth possible. The biggest announcement of the day was the launch of Fight IQ. WBC Muay Thai and Cognition Alpha have partnered to bring this new technology to the sport. Fight IQ can scan an athlete's brain. In two minutes, it can give information about focus, recovery, and readiness to perform. The technology is already used in Major League Baseball in the United States. Fight IQ will also be on display at the Amazing Muay Thai World Festival. Athletes, coaches, and fans can learn more about the technology. WBC Muay Thai hopes the system will help improve athlete development in Thailand. Neuroscientists from Chulalongkorn University will help oversee the project. This partnership brings new technology to Muay Thai. It helps support the future growth of the sport and its athletes.
