**Full disclosure: Les Villages Nature paris covered the cost of our accommodation for this trip. This is not sponsored and the resort do not have any editorial control of this video.** Whilst we were at Les Villages Nature Paris, Greg and I decided to have a go at making our own Vertical Wall Garden! These simple strawberry planters are made from nothing but old pallets, some fabric, bamboo canes, compost and cuttings! Vertical Gardens are a great way to introduce a bit of greenery into even the smallest of outside spaces! Would you give something like this a go?! Not long ago Greg and I went for a long weekend to Les Villages Nature Paris, a resort in France! We heard they had a brilliant waterpark, a farm with lots of hands-on activities, a forest and beautiful gardens so we had to go for a visit! "Consider the coconut, Consider its tree, We use each part of the coconut, That's all we need" - Join us on our Polynesian Moana adventure as we go in search of Canoe Plants! More information below :-) Polynesian voyagers like Moana understood the importance of nature and recognised how plants could help them set up life on new islands. So, they brought key plants with them every time they set sail across the ocean, and these became known as Canoe Plants! "In all, there were about 20-35 canoe plants, including noni. They spread across the Pacific Islands. Can you imagine moving to a strange new land, able to bring only what would fit in your small, seafaring canoe? What would you bring with you? What would you leave behind?" http://bit.ly/2f6c2tf The idea for this video came from the lyrics of Moana's, "Where You Are" (Music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Mancina) "....Consider the coconut, Consider its tree, We use each part of the coconut, That's all we need. We make our nets from the fibers, The water is sweet inside, We use the leaves to build fires, We cook up the meat inside. Consider the coconuts, The trunks and the leaves, The island gives us what we need..." Thank you to the Eden Project for letting us use their incredible Rainforest Biome to film this video! We were lucky enough to get early access to THE WORLD'S LARGEST INDOOR TROPICAL RAINFOREST at The Eden Project. Whilst playing on the awesome cloud bridge we thought what better question to tackle than...How do Rainforests Make Clouds?! Corrections: * When defining a rainforest we should have said that these are criteria for "TROPICAL" rainforests. This week I'm joining Nick Acheson and the Norfolk Wildlife Trust to explore some Ancient Woodlands and search for the Early Purple Orchid! Subscribe for more: http://bit.ly/1kPjJZL Many thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund for helping make this video series possible: https://www.hlf.org.uk The Early Purple Orchid is a striking plant and an 'ancient woodland indicator', that has been chosen to represent the North Norfolk Woods Living Landscape. Read on for more information! Norfolk Wildlife Trust is the largest wildlife trust in the UK and 2016 marks their 90th birthday! To celebrate, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and Maddie are joining forces to create 9 videos for their #9for90 project. Each video will focus on one of the nine charismatic species chosen to represent Norfolk Wildlife Trust's nine Living Landscapes But what is a Living Landscape? Sadly the UK's wildlife is in decline but the wildlife trusts have an ambitious plan to help nature recover. Living Landscapes aim to return biodiversity to our countryside by restoring, reconnecting and recreating wild areas. New nature-rich habitats will be created, joining together surviving refuges to allow wildlife species to move more freely and expand their range and populations. NWT has identified a number of areas where they will be focusing their efforts. These Living Landscape project areas have been selected to cover some of the key wildlife areas in Norfolk and other areas where there are opportunities to create new habitats!
