Synopsis
Publisher's Summary A former international hostage negotiator for the FBI offers a new field-tested approach to high-stakes negotiations - whether in the boardroom or at home. After a stint policing the rough streets of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris Voss joined the FBI, where his career as a hostage negotiator brought him face-to-face with a range of criminals, including bank robbers and terrorists. Reaching the pinnacle of his profession, he became the FBI's lead international kidnapping negotiator. Never Split the Difference takes you inside the world of high-stakes negotiations and into Voss' head, revealing the skills that helped him and his colleagues succeed where it mattered most: in saving lives. In this practical guide, he shares the nine effective principles - counterintuitive tactics and strategies - you, too, can use to become more persuasive in both your professional and personal lives. Life is a series of negotiations you should be prepared for: buying a car, negotiating a salary, buying a home, renegotiating rent, deliberating with your partner. Taking emotional intelligence and intuition to the next level, Never Split the Difference gives you the competitive edge in any discussion. ©2016 Christopher Voss (P)2016 HarperCollins Publishers

This is a very well written book with great information on your path to understanding a different approach to negotiation. The examples and techniques described can be easily implemented with practice.

I learned about this book on a podcast, and it intrigued me. It is difficult to find anything new on negotiations. This book delivered. a must listen.

I have listened to this book a few times now. Each time I pick up a bit more on the real impact of words, phrases, and negotiation tactics have on the human psyche. Good advice to remember when making everyday deals.

A must read for any business,Government Agency anyone dealing with or anyone dealing with life.

great book. easy to listen to. wish there was more business application versus hostage situations though.

Just a book of a guy bragging about his abilities and occasionally half-heartedly telling you how he does them.

Would you consider the audio edition of Never Split the Difference to be better than the print version?I chose the audio version due to to voice inflections. I will get the print version anyways. What other book might you compare Never Split the Difference to and why?Thinking Fast and Slow. I like new realistic reality vetted ideas, not people splitting hairs and writing a book about how they see things. What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?Voice inflections, you need that with negotiation. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?I liked the entire book, great book, it just needs PDF companion. This was the first book out of hundreds I actually pre-ordered, so I figure the PDF is coming, and I just bought it too soon. Any additional comments?Buy it.

There's so much in this book I'm gonna have to read it nor listen to it again. I feel like I could be a master negotiator now.

struggled to finish hearing the author talk about himself...then talk about himself some more. very little practical info from this book.

The book had good content on negotiating but it felt like an advertisement for his company.
