Looking over the other reviews, I can see the divide here: It seems that those already critical/apprehensive of organized religion were neither shocked or entertained. However, it seems those who grew up in a church/still attend church regularly felt both shocked and captivated. It's honest for what it is, but it's barely the tip of the iceberg. The understated issue I felt the documentary tried to touch on was the blatant naivety among young females within the church communities and the lack of common sense about the "outside world" works or how sexual crimes work. Although women are not the only victims here, it seems they made a point to highlight their second class citizenship within the church. But honestly, there didn't really seem to be any particular "ah-ha" moment in the 3-episode series. It felt more like sitting in traffic for 3 hours only to find out the delay was due to a small car accident and nothing was on fire. Overall, it's fairly dull documentary, but I'm happy that people are talking about it all the same because megachurches are truly an issue in American culture. If you're really looking to be shocked at the manipulation and propaganda that goes on in within the church, your time would be better spent watching Jesus Camp, which is still mind-blowing 16 years later.

They accuse of using music to wind up emotions, and at the same time they do the same. Huge church and a few people have spoken. Someone was offended and decided to shoot a documentary with a sexual scandal in the background. One should not equate the whole church with two people who made mistake. There was no evidence of corruption except that the pastor wore expensive shoes. Facts and figures, please. There are no data to support the allegations.

Why make a 30 minute doc, when you can make 180 minutes of sloppy repetitive crap, and layer it with tropey sound effects?? Said the Discovery Execs This is just crap. The story editor and picture editor should find new careers.

Being a person that grew up on churches myself I found this series to be really accurate and helpful for those who are blind enough not to understand the problem with mega churches like Hillsong. It explained almost every single problem with this company. And that right there gained my respect.

I'm no fan of Hillsong and someone of this was doc was very good. Especially the first part when talking about worship music. But one thing I don't get. These people who complained about the college. You continued to stay there. Was a gun to your head that you couldn't leave? I'm not defending them but no one was forcing you to stay there.

Big shocker - pastor smoked and drank and had an affair!! Whoop de doo - crikey - how about doing an expose on why on earth Americans are such puritans - the mayflower was a long time ago mind - are all Americans this stupid crazy? Can't blame the Australian for seeing big bucks can you? Tithes? That's from the era of indulgences and what ever you say about Catholicism even they stopped the poxy tithes! This was interesting as a gossip watch as my ex mother in law used to go see this lot of moonies in London and I wanted to find out if they were as cra cra as her - yes - I'm sorry but these born again Christians / Evangelicals- whatever - are all absolute nuts.
