FC Bayern beat Real Madrid 2-1 on Tuesday night to put themselves in a promising position to reach the Champions League semi-finals. Luis Díaz handed Bayern the lead late in the first half of a heavyweight clash that lived up to its billing. Harry Kane added a second after half-time, with Kylian Mbappé pulling one back for Real with 15 minutes to go. Bayern lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal and Josip Stanišić, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović anchored a midfield featuring Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and Díaz, with Kane up front.
