Synopsis
Publisher's Summary Narrated by Viola Davis In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me. As I wrote Finding Me, my eyes were open to the truth of how our stories are often not given close examination. We are forced to reinvent them to fit into a crazy, competitive, judgmental world. So I wrote this for anyone running through life untethered, desperate and clawing their way through murky memories, trying to get to some form of self-love. For anyone who needs reminding that a life worth living can only be born from radical honesty and the courage to shed facades and be . . . you. Finding Me is a deep reflection, a promise, and a love letter of sorts to self. My hope is that my story will inspire you to light up your own life with creative expression and rediscover who you were before the world put a label on you. ©2022 Viola Davis (P)2022 HarperCollins Publishers

I loved every minute of this book! Intensely emotional. The memoir is packed with lessons, and profoundly inspirational and it have it read my Viola herself made it even more real and powerful. Ended up listening to it all in one day.10/10 would recommend 👌

The foundational experiences, transformation from victim to survivor, and wisdom shared by Ms. Davis is truly inspirational! That being said, the language is too vulgar (not a judgment, an observation). It saddens me because she is an exceptional actor! She is a master of her art, without question. We are all entitled to our opinions, our views, and perspectives. I would not recommend the book. I felt the same way when reading President Obama's biography--AMAZING! But, again, the vulgarity tainted and did nothing to edify the reader.

This book was riveting moving I feel like I cried for two days straight. Viola Davis is a beautiful individual. Thank you for sharing your pains and struggles with me. This book definitely stirred memories from my past. Thank you

I purchased it and couldn’t stop listening , very inspirational .. This store is amazing . Must read

My God this book right here!!!! I laughed I cried I was pissed. This book took me through every emotion. Thank you Mrs Viola David Thank you!

This was absolutely one of the best memoirs I have ever read! I felt every word! Viola blessed us with real truth and the beauty of realizing your self worth. I really liked Viola before... but now....I'm in awe of her and so encouraged by her life! THANK YOU for so authentically sharing so many significant parts of your life's journey. I'm forever a fan of Viola Davis now!

Excellently written and narrated. I felt like family member hearing a piece of family history for the first time.

I loved this book and how she left nothing left unsaid. I experienced her life and mine at the same time. This book was beautiful in more ways than one. Definitely an amazing read.

I was audible sobbing at the end of this book. I have always revered Viola Davis. I knew I wanted to experience this audibly. There is something about hearing her stories that really resonates with your spirit. I am encouraged by this memoir and I believe other people, but especially other Black women, will be encouraged as well. Deeply moved.

Loved it!!!!! Especially hearing Viola narrate her own story!!!! That must have been challenging not only to write about some of the things, but to speak it. I've admired her work for years. This autobiography is raw and real. I'm even more fascinated by the person now. Some of her stories were enlightening to me, a teacher, specifically the importance of truly seeing each child and understanding or having a frame of reference on why they act out or appear inappropriate. I needed this book!!!! Once you start it, you won't put it down until she reads the last line.

This was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I am so inspired. Thank you, Queen!
