Synopsis

In this video, I break down one of the most controversial questions in combat sports: Why do fighters from Dagestan and Chechnya seem mentally tougher and more disciplined than fighters raised in Western Europe? Having grown up in Bulgaria and then spending nearly 10 years in the Netherlands, I’ve experienced both worlds. My journey into combat sports started through Warrior Code, which eventually took me to Thailand, where I worked as a combat sports journalist and interviewed some of the biggest fighters in the world. Through real conversations with people from Dagestan and Chechnya, I began to understand something deeper. In these regions, boys grow up in an environment where weakness is not accepted. From a young age, many of them train wrestling, sambo, judo, or MMA. It’s not a hobby—it’s a way out. A chance to build a future. Their daily life is built around discipline: training, school, faith, and repetition. There are fewer opportunities, higher pressure, and a culture that demands strength—both mentally and physically. In Western Europe, life is different. There are more opportunities, more comfort, and less pressure to fight for survival. While this creates stability, it also changes the mindset and urgency. This video is not about saying one culture is better than another. It’s about understanding how different environments shape different types of fighters. 🎥 Filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria 🥊 Real experience from Bulgaria, Netherlands, and Thailand 🔥 Raw, honest perspective on combat sports culture #mma #dagestan #chechnya #fighter #champion #chimaev #mentality #ufc
