In this video I break down two easy and effective escapes from the omoplata, perfect for beginners and intermediates who want reliable ways to stay safe and recover top position. Escape 1 Pressure, Frame, and Leg Block Once your partner locks the omoplata, you secure your own arm, apply controlled pressure to bring them toward a reclined position, and create space to move forward. From there, you block the far leg with your head and circle to the opposite side, finishing in a stable top side control. Escape 2 Forward Roll Before the Flatten Before your partner drags you flat, you come up to your knees, turn your head toward their hips, and roll forward using your far shoulder. This motion brings you over safely and lands you in top side control on the same side. Both escapes are simple, safe, and great additions to your defensive game.
